Effects of fasciatherapy versus fascial manipulation on pain, range of motion and function in patients with chronic neck pain.

Fifty-two patients with chronic neck pain were randomized to receive DBM fasciatherapy plus conventional physiotherapy (n=26) or fascial manipulation plus conventional physiotherapy (n=26). The primary outcome of interest was pain (NPRS). Secondary outcomes included neck disability (NDI) and cervical ROM (flexion, extension, side-bending, rotation). Outcomes were assessed at baseline and after three weeks (3×/week). Overall, the results of the study revealed clinically important within-group improvements in both arms for pain, disability, and ROM, with between-group advantages for DBM fasciatherapy in cervical extension and right side-bending. These findings suggest adding DBM fasciatherapy may yield small but statistically significant ROM gains beyond fascial manipulation over a short course, while both approaches improve symptoms.
