Face-to-Face And Telerehab Circuit Training Are Equally Effective And Acceptable For Knee OA .
Face-to-face and telerehabilitation delivery of circuit training have similar benefits and acceptability in patients with knee osteoarthritis: a randomised trial.
J Physiother . 2023 Oct;69(4):232-239.One hundred adults with knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive either periodised circuit training via telerehabilitation (n=50) or face-to-face (n=50). The primary outcomes were pain intensity (VAS) and physical function (WOMAC) at 14 weeks. Secondary outcomes included objective physical function, isometric peak torque, pain catastrophising, thigh/body composition, intermuscular adipose tissue, and muscle architecture. Outcomes were assessed at 14 and 26 weeks. Overall, the results revealed that telerehabilitation was non-inferior to face-to-face delivery for all primary and secondary outcomes. The findings suggest telerehabilitation is an effective and acceptable alternative to traditional in-person circuit training for knee OA.
