Comparison of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy and Ultrasound-Guided Shoulder Injection Therapy in Patients with Supraspinatus Tendinitis

Twenty-six patients with supraspinatus tendinitis were randomized to receive either extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT; n=13) or ultrasound-guided injection therapy (US; n=13). Outcomes of interest were pain measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and function measured using the Constant Shoulder Score and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score. No differences were apparent between the two groups at 3 months with regard to pain scores and function.
