Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is not useful after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2012 Dec;20(12):2567-72. doi: 10.1007/s00167-012-1923-8. Epub 2012 Feb 2171 patients were randomized to assess the efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for tendon healing following rotator cuff repair. Patients who underwent arthroscopic repair of small- to large-sized rotator cuff tears received either post-operative ESWT or no intervention (control). At the one-year follow-up, patients who received ESWT showed no improvement in functional (Constant and UCLA) and pain (VAS) scores in comparison to the control group.
