Effect of exercise therapy in patients with hip osteoarthritis: A systematic review and cumulative meta-analysis.

Eighteen randomized controlled trials including patients with hip osteoarthritis were included in this systematic review and cumulative meta-analysis comparing exercise therapy versus no or minimal treatment. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain and function post-treatment and at 6-9 months follow-up. The results showed a beneficial effect of exercise therapy on pain and function post-treatment, and on pain and function at 6-9 months follow-up. The main findings suggest that exercise therapy provides modest benefits in reducing pain and improving function in hip osteoarthritis, but these benefits are small and may not be clinically significant.
