Exercise Effects on Glucocorticoid-induced Osteoporosis in Adults .
Exercise effects on glucocorticoid-induced bone loss in adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Rheumatol Adv Pract. 2023 Feb 6;7(1):rkad019.3 randomized trials with a total of 62 patients were included in this meta-analysis assessing the effect of exercise on bone mineral density (BMD) in patients receiving glucocorticoid therapy. The pooled outcomes of interest included BMD in the lumbar spine and femoral neck. Pooled lumbar spine BMD was significantly higher in the exercise group, but no significant difference was observed in femoral neck BMD. More trials are needed to assess the utility of exercise for combatting glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.
