A Meta-Analysis of the Effect of Corticosteroid Injection for Enthesopathy of the Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis Origin

Seven randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of corticosteroid injections in the treatment of enthesopathy of the extensor carpi radialis brevis origin. Included RCTs featured local anesthetic or placebo saline injections as a control. Results demonstrated significantly lower pain at 1 month with corticosteroid versus control injections, but no significant difference at 3 and 6 months. Functional scores and grip strength did not significantly differ between injection options at any time point.
