Fourteen days of etoricoxib 60 mg improves pain, hyperalgesia and physical function in individuals with knee osteoarthritis: a randomized controlled trial

86 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis were randomized to etoricoxib 60mg daily for 14 days or placebo for 14 days. Patients were assessed for outcome related to resting and dynamic pain, stiffness, function, and pressure pain threshold after 4 and 14 days of treatment. Results demonstrated significantly greater improvement after 14 days in the etoricoxib group compared to the placebo group for resting pain, dynamic pain during functional performed tests, stiffness and function on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and pressure pain threshold.
