Enhanced Nerve Function Recovery In Radial Nerve Palsy Patients With Humerus Shaft Fracture .
Enhanced nerve function recovery in radial nerve palsy patients with humerus shaft fracture: a randomized study of low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with exercise therapy.
Front Neurol . 2024 Jul 1:15:1370316.One hundred ten patients with humeral shaft fractures and associated radial nerve palsy were randomized to receive either conventional exercise therapy alone (n=55) or combined with low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation (n=55). The primary outcome was clinical efficacy, measured using a standardized functional scoring system. Secondary outcomes included wrist and finger extensor muscle strength, nerve conduction velocity and amplitude, and wrist/elbow range of motion. Outcomes were assessed after 6 months. Overall, the results of the study revealed significantly higher clinical efficacy in the combined therapy group (89.09%) versus exercise alone (69.09%), along with greater gains in muscle strength, nerve conduction parameters, and joint mobility. These findings suggest that electrical stimulation in combination with exercise therapy enhances functional nerve recovery in this population.
