The effect of Emotional Freedom Techniques on nurses' stress, anxiety, and burnout levels during the COVID-19 pandemic: A randomized controlled trial
Explore (NY). Mar-Apr 2021;17(2): 109-114.Seventy-two nurses caring for COVID-19 patients were randomized to receive a single group session of Emotional Freedom Technique (acupressure) therapy (n=35) or no treatment (n=37) to help reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout. Outcomes of interest included the Subjective Unity of Distress (SUD) scale, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and the Burnout Scale, measured upon the completion of the intervention. Results of the study revealed all outcomes to be statistically significantly favourable in the intervention group compared to the control group after treatment (p<0.001 for all).
