2014 15th EFORT Congress: PRP Injections Versus Viscosupplementation For Early Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Double-Blind Study

OE Journal. 2014;2(12):36192 patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomly assigned into 1 of 2 groups, a PRP or hyaluronic acid injection group, to determine the effect each intervention had on knee OA and cartilage degeneration. The results of the study indicated that no statistical difference existed between PRP or hyaluronic acid treatment in terms of function (IKDC score), pain (IKDC score) or cartilage degeneration, 1 year after treatment completion.
