Alignment Of Patient Specific Instrumented Total Knee Replacement Is No Better Than Conventional Instrumented - A Prospective Randomised Clinical Trial

64 Patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomized to evaluate the efficacy of patient specific instrumentation (PIS) against the conventional approach. Patients were monitored over 1 year and were evaluated based on alignment (Perth CT protocol), and intraoperative and functional outcomes. The evidence from this presentation revealed no associated benefits in alignment, functional outcome, or intraoperative time with PSI compared to the conventional approach. Length of hospital stay was significantly shorter in PSI patients.
