Prospective Randomised Controlled Trial Of Open Release Vs. Radiofrequency Microtenotomy In The Treatment Of Lateral Epicondylitis. Initial Results
46 patients demonstrating over 6 months of Lateral Epicondylitis symptoms were randomized to evaluate the efficacy of open fixation against radiofrequency microtenotomy (RFMT) over 12 months. Patients were evaluated based on Grip Strength, Disability of Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH), and pain scores. The initial 6 week evidence presented in this conference reported demonstrated comparable strength, disability, and pain between the two approaches. RFMT was associated with better strength and ability, while pain was slightly better with open release patients. This trial is still on going and we await the 1 year follow-up results.
