Clinical Significance of Protective Motivation Intervention Nursing on Functional Recovery of Patients after Hip Arthroplasty

Sixty patients who underwent hip arthroplasty were randomized to receive either a nursing intervention based on a protective motivation intervention model (n=30) or a standard nursing intervention (n=30). Outcomes of interest included satisfaction, Functional Independence Rating Scale (FIM) scores, the Harris Hip joint function score, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the Barthel abilities of daily living scale, and quality of life, assessed up to 6 months post-discharge. Results of all outcomes, at all time points, were significantly in favor of the protective motivation intervention model group.
