Efficacy of manual therapy for sacroiliac joint pain syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Sixteen randomized controlled trials including 776 adults with sacroiliac joint pain syndrome were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing manual therapy to non-manual physiotherapy or sham interventions. Pooled outcomes of interest included post-treatment pain and disability scores. Manual therapy showed a statistically significant moderate improvement in disability but no statistically significant reduction in pain. These findings suggest manual therapy may be effective for improving disability in SIJPS, but its efficacy for pain remains uncertain.
