Efficacy of Kinesio Taping for Pain and Pressure Pain Threshold in Myofascial Pain Syndrome .
A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Efficacy of Kinesio Taping for Pain Management and Pressure Pain Threshold in Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
Pain Res Manag. 2025 01-Aug:. 10.1155/prm/888163215 randomized controlled trials evaluating the effects of Kinesio taping in individuals with myofascial pain syndrome were reviewed. All included trials compared Kinesio taping with a control condition, including sham taping, placebo, or no intervention. Outcomes of interest included pain intensity measured using VAS, NRS, or NPS scales, and pressure pain threshold (PPT). Pain and pressure pain threshold were assessed at multiple time points, including immediately after intervention, within the first week, at 2–3 weeks, and at 4–6 weeks. Overall, the results of the study revealed that Kinesio taping significantly reduced pain intensity and increased pressure pain threshold in the immediate and short-term periods, with diminishing effects over time. These findings suggest that Kinesio taping may provide short-term symptomatic benefit in myofascial pain syndrome.
