The Efficacy of Harpagophytum procumbens (Teltonal) in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Active-Controlled Clinical Trial
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2021; 2021: 5596892.Thirty-eight patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive 1 month of Harpagophytum procumbens treatment (n=18) or 10 days of daily meloxicam (n=20). Outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), the Oxford Knee Scale (OKS) score, and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) score. Outcomes were assessed at 2, 4 and 8 weeks follow up. No significant differences were observed between the two groups at all time-points.
