Efficacy and Temporal Dynamics of Genicular Nerve Block in Primary and Secondary Knee Osteoarthritis for Pain and Function: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Six randomized controlled trials including 420 patients with primary or secondary KOA were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing GNB vs. other therapies. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain (VAS) and function (WOMAC/OKS/Lysholm), with temporal analyses at ~2–12 weeks. GNB significantly reduced pain overall and improved function; pain benefits were most evident at 2 weeks, whereas functional gains were greater at 12 weeks. These findings suggest GNB is an effective minimally invasive option for short‑term pain relief and functional improvement in KOA.
