Effects of Myofascial Release with Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Students with Neck Pain .
Effects of Myofascial Release Technique along with Cognitive Behavior Therapy in University Students with Chronic Neck Pain and Forward Head Posture: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Behav Sci (Basel) . 2024 Mar 4;14(3):205.Sixty-six university students with chronic neck pain and forward head posture were randomized to receive either Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) alone (n=33) or MRT combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (n=33). The primary outcome was pain reduction, measured by the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS). Secondary outcomes included neck disability, assessed using the Neck Disability Index (NDI), and postural improvement, measured by craniovertebral angle (CVA). Outcomes were assessed at baseline, four weeks, and eight weeks. Overall, the study revealed that the MRT+CBT group had significantly greater improvements in all measures than the MRT-only group. The findings suggest that combining physical and psychological interventions can significantly enhance treatment outcomes in chronic neck pain and postural issues.
