Effects of Kinesiotape versus Low-Dye Tape on Pain and Comfort Measures in Patients with Plantar Fasciitis: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Life (Basel) . 2024 Feb 12;14(2):249.Forty patients with acute plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive kinesiotape (n=20) or low-dye tape (n=20). The primary outcome was pain measured using a visual analog scale. Secondary outcomes included mobility, comfort, hygiene comfort, durability, sweating, and allergic reactions. Outcomes were assessed daily for five days and 24 hours after tape removal. Overall, kinesiotape resulted in greater pain reduction, particularly within the first 48 hours, and was superior in mobility, comfort, hygiene, and durability, with fewer reports of sweating and detachment. These findings suggest kinesiotape as a better option for managing acute plantar fasciitis pain and improving comfort.
