Agility and Perturbation Training Techniques in Exercise Therapy for Reducing Pain and Improving Function in People With Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Phys Ther. 2011 Apr;91(4):452-69. Epub 2011 Feb 17.183 patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive either standard exercise protocols or standard exercise with perturbation and agility training. The results of this study support the effectiveness of exercise therapy for the improvement of patient function; however, it fails to demonstrate any additive benefit associated with the agility and perturbation exercise techniques. At the 12 month follow-up, there was no statistically significant difference between groups with respect to self-reported function or global rating of change.
