Effects of acupuncture on shoulder impingement syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

This systematic review and meta-analysis included five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 382 patients diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS). The study compared the effects of manual acupuncture to non-acupuncture interventions, focusing on outcomes such as pain, shoulder function, and disability. Pooled results demonstrated significant reductions in pain and improvements in shoulder function and disability. Subgroup analysis revealed that short-term treatment (≤4 weeks) was particularly effective with low heterogeneity. These findings suggest manual acupuncture is effective in managing SIS-related pain and disability in the short term.
