Effectiveness of telerehabilitation in postoperative outcomes in patients on hip fracture surgery: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Seventeen randomized controlled trials including 1,577 patients recovering from hip fracture surgery were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing telerehabilitation versus usual care. Pooled outcomes of interest included hip function (Harris Hip Score), functional independence (FIM), quality of life (SF-36/EQ-5D), treatment adherence (MCBS), anxiety (SAS), and walking ability (TUG). The telerehabilitation group showed significant improvements in hip function, functional independence, treatment adherence, and quality of life, but no significant effects on anxiety or walking ability. These findings suggest telerehabilitation can enhance recovery in key functional areas after hip fracture surgery, though not in emotional well-being or gait.
