A Randomized Study of the Effectiveness of Suprascapular Nerve Block in Patient Satisfaction and Outcome After Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):230 Arthroscopy; 2011; 27(10):1323-132845 individuals who had been diagnosed with shoulder impingement and were treated with arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) were randomized to receive either SSN block, placebo (saline), or a subacromial infiltration of local anesthesia. Post-operative results indicated that patients who received SSN displayed significantly less pain and required significantly less analgesia in comparison to the other two interventions. In addition, the SSN group had higher patient satisfaction and better range of motion.
