Effectiveness of patient education on total knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
J Clin Nurs . 2023 Jun;32(11-12):2383-2398.This systematic review and meta-analysis included 12 studies involving 1598 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, comparing patient educational interventions utilizing information technology devices to usual care without programmed patient education. Pooled outcomes of interest focused on postoperative pain levels and range of motion (ROM). The analysis revealed that educational interventions, particularly those employing information technology (IT) devices, were significantly effective in reducing postoperative pain and improving ROM compared to usual care, demonstrating the potential benefits of integrating IT-based educational tools in clinical practice for patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty.
