Effectiveness of OsteoKing in the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation: A Randomized, Double?€?Blind, Double?€?Dummy, Positive?€?Controlled, Multicenter Clinical Trial.

210 patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) were randomized to receive OsteoKing or Yaobitong capsules for 4 weeks. The primary outcome of interest was change in Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain score from baseline to 4 weeks. Secondary outcomes included Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores, resolution of individual traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms, and safety outcomes, with efficacy assessed at 2 and 4 weeks. Overall, the results revealed that both treatments substantially reduced pain and improved lumbar function. In the full analysis set (FAS), the between-group difference in VAS reduction at 4 weeks did not reach statistical significance, although the per-protocol set (PPS) demonstrated a modest advantage for OsteoKing. These findings suggested that OsteoKing provided efficacy comparable to Yaobitong for LDH, with a possible modest short-term analgesic benefit.
