Effects of carbazochrome sodium sulfonate combined with tranexamic acid on hemostasis and inflammation during perioperative period of total hip arthroplasty: A randomized controlled trial
Orthop Traumatol Surg Res. 2022 Feb;108(1): 103092.One hundred and fifty patients undergoing a total hip arthroplasty were randomized to receive carbazochrome sodium sulfate plus tranexamic acid (n=50), tranexamic acid only (n=50) or placebo (n=50). The primary outcome of interest was total blood loss. Secondary outcomes of interest included hemoglobin levels, coagulation and inflammatory markers, pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), length of stay, and adverse events. Results revealed significantly lower blood loss, lower inflammatory marker levels, and less pain in the carbazochrome sodium sulfate group vs. both comaparator groups.
