Improved physical disability and nutritional status by bovine colostrum supplementation in adults with traumatic peri-trochanteric femoral fracture: A randomized, controlled, clinical trial.

Ninety-four patients with traumatic peri-trochanteric femoral fractures were randomized to receive bovine colostrum (n=46) or whey protein supplementation (n=48) for 21 days post-surgery. The primary outcome of interest was physical disability, measured by the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Secondary outcomes included weight, appetite, serum albumin, hemoglobin, and lymphocyte count over 30 days. Overall, the colostrum group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in physical function and nutritional parameters. These findings suggest that bovine colostrum can accelerate recovery and enhance nutritional outcomes after surgery.
