Effect of a fibromyalgia rehabilitation programme in warm versus cold climate: A randomized controlled study

OE Journal. 2014;2(17):19 J Rehabil Med. 2014 Jun 25;46(7):676-83132 patients, between the ages of 18 and 60 years, diagnosed with fibromyalgia (FM) were randomly assigned into 1 of 3 groups to determine the effect of climate on the efficacy of a rehabilitation programme designed to help stem the consequences of FM. Patients received treatment in either a warm or cold climate or received no intervention at all (control). Following the completion of the study, results indicated that a significant reduction in pain and pain distribution occurred only in patients receiving treatment in warm climates. However, both climates (warm and cold) resulted in comparable improvements in physical function 1 year after intervention.
