Impact of a Targeted 8-Week Exercise Program on Pain Measures and Isokinetic Muscle Strength in Females With Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2026;14(2):23 Physiother Res Int. 2025 01-Oct:. 10.1002/pri.70093研究概要
30 females with clinically diagnosed patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) who were randomized to either an experimental group receiving a supervised weight‐bearing exercise for better balance (WEBB) program for 8 weeks or a control group receiving no intervention. All 30 patients completed follow-up and were included in the final analysis. The outcomes of interest were isokinetic peak torque of hip and knee muscles measured using a Biodex dynamometer, pain intensity assessed by visual analogue scale, pressure pain threshold measured by digital algometry, and functional disability assessed using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Outcomes were assessed at baseline and immediately after the 8-week intervention period. Overall, the results of the study revealed that the WEBB program resulted in significant improvements across all within-group outcomes and produced superior gains in several strength, pain, and disability measures compared with no intervention.
