Multidimensional approach to teaching anatomy: do gender and learning style matter?
242 medical students attending a compulsory dissection cadaver course were randomized to receive training from either 5th year medical students, board-certified Orthopaedic Trauma surgeons, or no training. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of learning styles and gender characteristics. Results indicated higher scores in male versus female students overall, but higher scores in females trained by Orthopaedic Trauma surgeons. In regards to learning styles, accomodators scored higher, but significantly so, whereas assimilators scored significantly lower.
