The Effect of Early Weight Bearing on Migration Pattern of the Uncemented CLS Stem in Total Hip Arthroplasty

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):102 J Arthroplasty. 2007 Dec;22(8):1122-942 patients with osteoarthritis undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) involving a cementless system (CLS) stem were randomized postoperatively to one of two groups. The first group participated in early unrestricted weight bearing (UWB) in addition to intensive physiotherapy, while the second group underwent partial weight-bearing (PWB) in addition to self-training. The primary outcome was migration of the uncemented CLS stem. Results indicated that early full-weight bearing after THA does not increase the risk of CLS stem loosening.
