OE Journal. 2013;1(3):45 J Hand Surg Am. 2008 Jul-Aug;33(6):864-821 patients with a closed EPL tendon rupture in zones T4 and T5 after undergoing an extensor indicis proprius tendon transfer were randomized to the postoperative physical therapy regimens; one group was treated with a dynamic protocol using a rubber-band system, and another group was allowed an early active thumb extension with limited flexion. Both dynamic and early active physiotherapy regimens achieved comparable clinical results in the 8 week assessment period.
