Effect of dynamic taping on neck pain, disability, and quality of life in patients with chronic non-specific neck pain: a randomized sham-control trial.

140 patients with chronic non-specific neck pain were randomized to receive standard physiotherapy care plus dynamic taping with appropriate tension (dynamic taping group, n=70) or standard physiotherapy care plus sham taping without tension (sham taping group, n=70). The primary outcome of interest was functional disability measured using the Neck Disability Index (NDI). Secondary outcomes of interest included pain intensity using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and quality of life using the WHO-5 Well-Being Index (WHO-5). Outcomes were assessed at baseline, four weeks post-taping, and four weeks follow-up. Overall, the results of the study revealed significant improvements in all primary and secondary outcomes in the dynamic taping group compared to the sham taping group. The incorporation of dynamic taping into standard physiotherapy care enhanced pain levels, functional disability, and well-being. These findings suggest the potential utility of dynamic taping as an adjunct therapy in managing chronic non-specific neck pain.
