Evaluation of outcomes of discectomy with a dynamic neutralization system in treatment of lumbar disk herniation.
Neurocirugia (Astur : Engl Ed) . 2023 Jul-Aug;34(4):161-167.128 patients with single-segmental lumbar disc herniation were randomized to undergo either discectomy with dynamic neutralization (n=64) or simple discectomy (n=64). Outcomes of interest included operative time, blood loss, complication rates, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), low back pain and leg pain scores on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), intervertebral height (ventral and dorsal), and range of motion. Outcomes were assessed at 1, 3, and 6 months, and 1 and 2 years following surgery. All clinical outcomes, with the exception of VAS for leg pain (1-6 months), blood loss, and operative time, were significantly better in the group that received a discectomy with dynamic neutralization.
