Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion versus Dynamic Hybrid Instrumentation: A Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial
World Neurosurg. 2018 Sep;117:e228-e237. doi: 10.1016/j.wneu.2018.06.00530 patients with single-level degenerative lumbar disc disease and scheduled for posterior lumbar interbody fusion were randomized to surgery with or without the addition of a dynamic pedicle screw and rod system, implanted into the superior vertebral level to the index fusion. Patients were assessed for the incidence of adjacent segment degeneration, incidence of implant failure, and clinical scores over 36-month follow-up. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in any of the above outcome measures.
