Dynamic hip screw vs femoral neck system for adult femoral neck fractures: A comparative meta-analysis.

8 studies including 593 patients with femoral neck fractures were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing femoral neck system (FNS) vs dynamic hip screw (DHS) fixation. Pooled outcomes of interest included operative time, intraoperative blood loss, Harris Hip Score (HHS), internal fixation failure, fracture nonunion, and femoral head necrosis. FNS was associated with significantly shorter operative time, less intraoperative blood loss, smaller incision length, and higher HHS at final follow-up. However, no significant differences were observed between FNS and DHS for fixation failure, nonunion, femoral head necrosis, hospital stay, fluoroscopy frequency, hemoglobin reduction, or femoral neck shortening. Overall, these findings suggest that FNS provides a less invasive surgical option with improved functional recovery while maintaining comparable complication rates to DHS.
