Anatomic Double-Bundle and Single-Bundle Reconstructions Yield Similar Outcomes Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Arthroscopy . 2024 Feb;40(2):481-494.This systematic review and meta-analysis included 13 randomized controlled trials involving patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, comparing the arthroscopic single-bundle (SB) method with the anatomic double-bundle (ADB) method. Pooled outcomes of interest included subjective clinical outcomes like the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective score, Lysholm score, Tegner activity score, and the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) sports subscale, as well as objective outcomes such as the pivot-shift test, Lachman test, side-to-side difference, extension and flexion deficit, and osteoarthritis changes. The results showed similar outcomes for both SB and ADB techniques in subjective and objective measures. These findings suggest that both techniques are viable options for ACL reconstruction.
