High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Double-bundle versus single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: a prospective randomized study with 5-year results

Am J Sports Med. 2012 Jul;40(7):1511-8. doi: 10.1177/0363546512448177. Epub 2012 Jun 11

90 patients were randomized to examine which method of ACL reconstruction, double or single bundle, is the most suitable in treating ACL ruptures. Patients received either double-bundle ACL reconstruction with bioabsorbable screw fixation, or single-bundle ACL reconstruction with bioabsorbable screw fixation, or single-bundle ACL reconstruction with metallic screw fixation. At the 5-year follow up, the double-bundle surgery resulted in significantly fewer graft failures and subsequent revision ACL surgery than the single-bundle surgeries; however, knee stability and osteoarthritis (OA) rates were similar at this time.
