Psychopharmacology (Berl). 2018 23-Feb;():. 10.1007/s00213-018-4981-xTwenty healthy subjects underwent a double-blind, placebo-controlled, within-subjects study to compare the neuropsychological effects of multiple psilocybin doses to the effects of a single dose of the hallucinogen, dextromethorphan (DXM). Comparison measures included psychomotor functioning, working and episodic memory, executive function and visual perception. Psilocybin induced dose-dependent effects on psychomotor performance, working memory, episodic memory, associative learning and visual perception. Psilocybin had greater effects than DXM on working memory while DXM had greater effects on balance, episodic memory, response inhibition and executive control.
