Cemented versus uncemented hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures: an updated meta-analysis
Eur J Orthop Surg Traumatol. 2014 Jan;24(1):7-14. doi: 10.1007/s00590-012-1151-4. Epub 2012 Dec 2012 randomized controlled trials comparing cemented and uncemented hemiarthroplasty (HA) in patients with displaced femoral neck fractures were included in this meta-analysis. This review aimed to compare the two methods with respect to mortality rates, the incidence of complications, blood loss, operative time, and hospital stay. Results indicated that cemented and uncemented HA resulted in similar mortality rates, incidences of complications, blood loss and residual pain. Cemented HA, however, was associated with a significantly longer operative time.
