Treatment with denosumab reduces secondary fracture risk in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis
Climacteric. 2015 Jun 1:1-237808 osteoperotic women part of the FREEDOM study, were analyzed in this post-hoc analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine how efficacious denosumab (60mg for 36 months) was in preventing fragility fractures and secondary fragility fractures as compared to a placebo. Results indicated that prior fragility fracture was present in 45% of the population, and denosumab treatment significantly reduced the risk of fragility fracture and secondary fragility fracture regardless of subgroup.
