A comparison of the penetration rate of two polyethylene acetabular liners of different levels of cross-linking: A PROSPECTIVE RANDOMISED TRIAL

OE Journal. 2013;1(11):84 J Bone Joint Surg Br. 2007 Nov;89(11):1439-45102 patients requiring total hip replacement surgery were randomized to receive one of two polyethylene inserts in order to examine their rate of wear. One group received a highly cross-linked Durasul polyethylene liner insert while the other group received a contemporary Sulene polyethylene liner insert. Results indicated that the mean linear and volumetric penetration rate was significantly reduced in the highly cross-linked Durasul insert group.
