Kinesio taping improves pain and function in patients with knee osteoarthritis: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

5 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis which sought to compare effects between kinesiotaping intervention and sham taping in treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Pooled measures included pain at rest, pain on movement, the western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), knee range of motion, and quadriceps strength. Results demonstrated low quality evidence suggestive of significant differences in favour of kinesiotape groups for outcomes of pain at rest, pain on movement, WOMAC scores, and knee range of motion.
