Impact of a new cryotherapy device on early rehabilitation after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA): a prospective randomised controlled trial

OE Journal. 2019;7(3):36 Int Orthop. 2018 Jun;42(6):1265-127397 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to postoperative cryotherapy through either a cold-compression system (cTreatment; Waegener) or standard cold packs. Patients were assessed at 2, 4, and 6 days postoperatively for primary outcomes of knee circumference and knee range of motion. Results after 6 days demonstrated no significant difference in knee circumference between groups, but significantly greater knee range of motion in the cTreatment group compared to the cold pack group.
