The Immediate Effect of Orthotic Management on Grip Strength of Patients With Lateral Epicondylosis

OE Journal. 2013;1(5):54 J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2009 Jun;39(6):484-9.52 patients suffering from lateral epicondylosis were organized to perform a grip-strength task with 4 orthoses (3 actual orthoses, 1 placebo), tested in a randomly determined order. This study compared the immediate effects of three commonly used orthoses on pain-free grip-strength in this population. The results indicated that counterforce elbow orthoses provided the greatest improvement in pain-free grip-strength, whereas the wrist splint demonstrated no improvements in comparison to placebo.
