Comparison of ultrasound-guided subacromial corticosteroid and ozone (O(2)-O(3)) injections in the treatment of chronic rotator cuff tendinopathy: a randomized clinical trial

Forty- four patients with rotator cuff tendinopathies were randomized to receive a single subacromial injection of corticosteroid (n=22) or three weekly subacromial injections of ozone (n=22). The primary outcome measure was the Western Ontario Rotator Cuff (WORC) score. Secondary outcome measures include the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) and pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Outcomes were assessed at 4 and 12 weeks follow-up. Both groups demonstrated significant improvements from baseline in all outcomes. However, the clinical benefits of both treatments may be similar, as no differences in all outcomes were observed between groups.
