The Effect of Corticosteroid Local Injection Versus Platelet-Rich Plasma for the Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis in Obese Patients: A Single-Blind, Randomized Clinical Trial
J Foot Ankle Surg. 2020 Jan - Feb;59(1):64-68.Thirty-two patients were included in this study comparing a single corticosteroid injection to multiple platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections for the treatment of plantar fasciitis in obese patients. Outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Foot Function Index pain, disability and activity limitation sub-scores. Post-treatment results revealed all outcomes to be significantly in favour of the corticosteroid group compared to the PRP group.
