Study Summary

180 adolescents with postural hyperkyphosis were randomized to receive a corrective exercise program + bracing (n=60), bracing only (n=60) or no treatment (n=60). The outcome of interest was the change in thoracic kyphosis at 6 months follow-up, measured with standing lateral spine radiographs. The results showed significantly greater improvement in thoracic kyphosis in the corrective exercise + bracing group compared to both the bracing-only and control group (p<0.001 for both). The bracing-only group demonstrated significantly greater improvement in thoracic kyphosis compared to the control group (p<0.001).
