Continuous Local Infiltration Analgesia after TKA: A Meta-Analysis

Eleven studies were selected for systematic review, of which six were used for meta-analysis, in investigation of the efficacy of continuous local infiltration analgesia (LIA) compared to either single-shot LIA or placebo for postoperative pain management following total knee arthroplasty. Compared to placebo, continuous LIA demonstrated significantly lower resting pain scores up to 24 hours, and significantly lower dynamic pain scores up to 48 hours. Compared to single-shot LIA, continuous LIA demonstrated no significant difference in resting pain scores at 24 hours, but significantly lower pain scores at 48 hours.
